Did this to demonstrate how shadows generally fall on the body. I'm not sure how this looks uploaded, though. The monitor I used a while ago appeared... drab. The one I'm using now appears a bit too bright.
Anyway, the [surface of the] body, when simplified, is made up of numerous planes that are essential in carving out form from 3 dimensional space, using light.
Planes directly hit by light are in highlight. As a plane turns away from the light, it goes through an infinite number of midtones, darkening until it is in shadow. Most of the time though, shadows are not entirely dark, since light can be reflected into them by objects in the environment.
I did this for a character illustration manual. I wanted to do more detailed shading, but had to simplify it because uhhh... it might not come out in photocopying.
how about writers/editorial board members labeling a back cover artwork for the magazine [link] as 'no impact', thus reducing the artwork to a mere thumbnail size and putting some thumbnailed artworks as well and adding a quotation about fantasy that they picked from thin air?
i mean, it's a fantasy artwork. it aint supposed to follow rules like gravity and shit. and yet they use that sorry excuse as a justification for reducing it to thumbnail size. heck, i'll scan the back cover and show it to you next tym.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
