According to Plato, the world we see is not the real world itself, but rather, just a reflection of the real, perfect world. This is the world we see in our minds.

Compare our world to the inside of a cave. What we see are just shadows of that perfect world, cast upon the cavewall, while we are shackled...

But suppose that one person is able to break free and see the truth outside that cave? Will his fellowmen believe him?

Anyway, really worked hard on this, especially the anatomy...

Please full view! :thanks:

Looks great.

If someone was to get outside of the "cave" of reality, how can they tell anyone?
Since all of the vocabulary is for cave stuff, it might be very hard to explain what they see.
Might mean a trip to the funny farm too.

HPL had a story similar to this.
Somebody made a machine that shows the reality behind things.
Needless to say things did not turn out too well.
Wish I could remember the name of the story.

yeah... reality is not what we see.... reality is hard because we make it hard.. we control our destinise... hence humanity is only suffereing becaue it chooses to ;P

I would also like to add that her facial expression conveys the look of awe of a curious traveller. The piece perfectly shows that the naked woman is intrigued by the world beyond the entrance of the cave.

The philosophy behind the artwork reminds me of the rhethorical question "A tree fell in the middle of the forest, was there a sound?" If you answer "yes" then how would you know if you were't there? Reality is subjective indeed.

>But suppose that one person is able to break free and see the truth outside that cave? Will his fellowmen believe him?

That reminds me of an old Indian tale about a community of frogs living in a well. Throughout their whole lives, they never ventured out of the well, fearing that if they do they would die or go crazy. One day, a big storm came and swept one of the frogs out of the well and into the sea. The misplaced frog was confused at first but experienced many wonders in the sea and met different creatures. A storm came and swept the frog back in to same well where he lived. He told the other frogs about his incredible experiences in the outside world but they wouldn't believe him and branded him as crazy.

>Anyway, really worked hard on this, especially the anatomy...

And you did a great job! The artwork perfectly conveys the expression "stepping into the world". The woman in the artwork looks sexy yet innocent. Her facial expression conveys the look of a curious explorer. The anatomy is just right. Comic book boobs aren't needed in this piece. Well done!
